Military Wife creates heirloom aprons from old BDU (Camouflage) uniforms

One of my friends (an incredible fellow cooking enthusiast), Brooke Borke, is a military wife of 11 years, who’s currently stationed in the Washington DC area with her husband who’s serving in the United States Air Force.

FreedomsHero.com started when Brooke realized the demand for creative ideas using old/retired BDU (camouflage) uniforms. Starting with her husbands’ own retired BDU’s and her first sewing machine in her dining room, her vision became a reality. She designs and creates CUSTOM REVERSIBLE apron that is duly functional, and of heirloom quality for generations to come.

“Imagine a child wearing an Heirloom Apron years from now of their great granddaddy’s who served in a foreign war.” – Brooke Borke

Heirloom aprons are created by using your old BDU blouse, personalized name tapes and unit patches. The backside of the apron is fully lined with branch specific fabrics, and she’s able to completely reconstruct the BDU into a one-of-a-kind Heirloom Apron, something meaningful to the recipient.

Heirloom Aprons have brought comfort to spouses and parents while their loved ones are deployed. At the same time they make great retirement and farewell gifts.

FreedomsHero.com can also make an apron from military approved fabrics when you don’t have your own BDU.

To learn more on how you can have your own heirloom BDU apron, visit http://www.freedomshero.com/ and don’t forget to tell Brooke you heard about it from Betty Hakes! I won’t get any money, but I will get a big thanks from a good friend.
